former Malaita Premier the late Daniel Suidani
The Malaita provincial government has released its statement confirming the passing of its former Premier and Provincial Member for ward 5 the late Hon. Daniel Suidani.
Speaking to SIBC News, Provincial Secretary Eric George said that the late Suidani was once a leader that the provincial government has learnt from him.
“He is our former leader and we learn from him in positive ways that help us together.”
He said the late Suidani’s passing leaves a gap for ward 5 and the province.
“We still remember the late Suidani as one of our leaders who served and led the province to where it is now.”
Meanwhile the provincial government in consultation with family members and relatives are to receive the late Suidani’s body in Auki.
A program has been discussed to lay his body at the provincial chamber for provincial members to pay respect to the former premier.
The late Suidani was one of the most vocal critics of Solomon Islands’ diplomatic switch from Taiwan to China in September 2019.
His former advisor Celsus Talifilu confirmed his passing at the National Referral Hospital this morning.
