The Malaita Provincial Premier Hon. Peter Ramohia has responded to critics following the Province’s plan to offer the Auki Plaza to the Solomon Islands National Provident Fund (SINPF).
In his response, Premier Ramohia says the building is currently in dire need of renovation.
Premier Ramohia admits, the many criticisms has resulted in the provincial government’s decision to halt further plans on the building.
Mr. Ramohia says his government will consult all tenants and decide on what is best for all Malaitans.
“Negotiations with NPF and the government stands at about $4 million, actually half a million of this amount will be used by NPF to demolish the building and prepare the site and so what’s left for the provincial government would be $3.5 million, so whenever that process will take place needs a meeting before it can happen so as not to offend anyone and that will allow development to continue for the benefit of Malaitans.”
Meanwhile, the premier warns the tenants not to create influences that can cause division amongst province.
