Malaita Provincial Premier Hon. Peter Chanel Ramohia has survived the motion of no confidence against his leadership this afternoon.
The motion moved by MPA for Ward 1, Auki, Hon. Malcolm Moli was defeated with only seven MPAs voted for, 24 MPAs voted against and two MPAs absent from today’s meeting.
Following this victory, Premier Ramohia calls on all leaders and people of Malaita province to embrace the result and work together with his provincial government to develop the province.
“What I would like to say to my people of Malaita province is to call on them to accept the result as a decision reached by their provincial leaders and continue to support my MART government.”
The Ramohia-led government has come under heavy criticism in recent months over what many termed as ‘illegal borrowings’ from local businessmen including Members of the Provincial Assembly.
