Malaita Province has announced its withdrawal from the Solomon Games 2018.
Provincial Sports Coordinator for Malaita, Eddie Omokirio formally announced it late yesterday.
In an email sent to the Games Chief Executive Officer, Mr Omokirio said they withdrew due to limited financial support from the provincial government.
Mr Omokirio added, they have also decided to withdraw their participation as most of the games facilities may not be ready on time.
He said with advise from the Malaita Provincial Secretary and in view of these, their exit now may avoid possible risks associated with a late withdrawal.
Central Province also confirmed withdrawing from this year’s Solomon Games in Renbel Province.
Meanwhile, Renbel Games Chief Executive Officer Golden Kiloko confirmed, Renbel is ready to welcome participants to next month’s Solomon Games.
