Malaita Province is now looking at introducing new ordinances to address all related challenges of the Customary Land Tenure System in the province, causing hiccups to the development and economic growth of Malaita Province.
A government statement says the Malaita Provincial Premier, Hon Peter Ramohia, and his executive touched on the initiative in a meeting they had on Tuesday with Prime Minister Sogavare including his Cabinet Ministers who accompanied him to the Malaita provincial capital Auki for the province’s 33rd Second Appointed Day Anniversary .
It reports, the Malaita Provincial Government believes, this is one of the most important agendas for execution because the province has never seen any tangible development that would raise its economic status due to challenges relating to customary land tenure system.
