Police have arrested a 53-year-old man following the death of his 10-year-old daughter in Guadalcanal Province.
The police media Unit confirms the man was arrested at Midi Village, West Guadalcanal yesterday.
Acting Provincial Police Commander for Guadalcanal Province, Superintendent Nixon Manetoga says, the body of the girl was found inside the family residence.
Mr. Manetoga says the deceased was a person with disability.
It is alleged that sometime last week the father of the deceased threatened his family and they escaped with the late child and lived with other relatives in the Aruligo area.
Mr. Manetoga explains it is alleged that the father of the deceased is a mentally ill person with aggressive behavior.
Meanwhile, the body of the deceased is now at the morgue at the National Referral Hospital for post mortem as investigations into the incident started.
