Measles cases have dramatically declined in the Solomon Islands.
A statement from the Ministry of Health and Medical Services yesterday said this follows a successful administration of 400,000 doses of measles-rubella (MR) vaccines by the ministry in response to the recent measles outbreak in the country.
Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Medical Services Dr Tenneth Dalipanda said he is happy to say that the measles outbreak has been effectively controlled.
Dr Dalipanda adds the success of the measles rubella campaign can be attributed to the effective coordination and collaboration with the Ministry and its partners and stakeholders.
SIBC News understands, during the outbreak the Ministry has launched a national measles vaccination campaign, targeting people aged six months to 30 years in all provinces, excluding pregnant women.
