The Solomon Islands Meteorological Service is reminding people in the country that the cyclone season is not over, despite the current fine weather.
Solomon Islands’ cyclone season typically lasts from November to April.
Solomon Islands Meteorological Service Director David Hiriasia said most of the floods and bad weather that affect the country occur from January to early April.
“I think it’s good for people to note that we are still in the cyclone season and weather can change,” he said.
That change is expected to start towards the end of the month.
Mr Hiriasia said given Solomon Islands’ geographical location around 10 degrees latitude, the country is a hotspot for cyclone formation.
