MINISTER SIGOTO APPLAUDS UNITED CHURCH FOR NURSES

The Minister of Health and Medical Services, Charles Sigoto has thanked the United Church of Solomon Islands for its ongoing contribution towards the development of the country’s health sector.

A Government statement today says the Minister thanked the church during the graduation ceremony of 17 nurses at the United Church operated Helena Goldie Nursing College in Munda last week.

Mr Sigoto said United Church is an important partner in the training of human resources in the health sector over the years and continues to do so.

Meanwhile, Minister Sigoto also thanked the chiefs and people of Munda and Roviana for hosting the United Church’s headquarter for providing the foundation on which the Helena Goldie Hospital and Nursing carry out their work in serving people.

Mr Sigoto added, the government acknowledged such great contribution and will continue to partner with them in the future to improve the lives of people.

Upgraded from the well-known Nurse-Aide Training School of Helena Goldie Hospital, the college now provides a fully-fledged course for Diploma in Nursing with the approval of the Nursing Council and the Ministry of Health and Medical Services.

The College was launched in February 2010 and celebrated its first diploma graduates last year. Last week’s graduation of 17 nurses was the second ceremony.

The College is situated close to Helena Goldie Hospital in Western Province.
