Mua’s trial adjourned, key witness sick

A key witness in the prosecution case against the former MP for Savo/Russell Dickson Mua was absent, forcing the Court to adjourn to Wednesday.

Albert Wong is the Managing Director of Oceanic Marine Equipment PTY Limited, supplier of the boats and engines Mr Mua distributed to his constituents.
Mr Wong is one of the prosecution’s twelve witnesses but did not appear in Court.

Today the Police Prosecutor in charge of Mr Wong’s summon from Court, testified that Mr Wong was currently in Australia for medical reasons.

The Prosecutor said he attempted 3 times to contact Mr Wong at his office in Ranadi saying he doesn’t know when Mr Wong would return to the country.

Meanwhile, Mr Mua’s lawyer Leslie Kwaiga requested the prosecution to provide documents on Mr Wong’s medical condition and fitness to testify before the court.

Mr Kwaiga also requested to talk with the Acting Managing Director of Oceanic Marine, adding he might recall three witnesses from the prosecution.

Chief Magistrate Emma Garo adjourned the case to Wednesday when the prosecution would update the Court on Mr Wong’s condition.

She advised Mr Kwaiga and Prosecutor Sirepu Ramosaea to discuss the possibility of the Acting Managing Director of Oceanic Marine to appear in Court on behalf of Mr Wong.
