The Magistrate’s Court has yesterday sentenced the former Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Infrastructure Development Henry Murray to 4 years imprisonment for official corruption.
Chief Magistrate’s Emma Garo sentenced Mr. Murray yesterday morning.
The total term for imprisonment under all counts of official corruption is 9 years.
The sentence was reduced to 6 years considering mitigation factors.
Magistrate Garo after considering the totality of the sentence deducted a further 2 years from the sentence imposed.
She then sent Mr Murray to 4 years imprisonment with immediate effect.
Mr Murray was convicted and found guilty of 11 counts of official corruption contrary to section 91(1) of the Penal Code Cap 26 on April 2018.
He was found guilty after a trial of 11 counts of official corruption for corruptly receiving 7-hundred and seven-thousand-5-hundred and fifty dollars between 2014 and 2017 from vehicle hires.
