The National Council of Women has formed a partnership with the Electoral Commission to provide leadership training and civic education to people in the communities.
The Women in Leadership Desk Officer at the Council, Casper Fa’asala told SIBC News the National Council of Women will run a one-day workshop in Munda, next week under the partnership.
Mr Fa’asala said the workshop is to raise awareness about the election process for communities in Munda.
“We are now working together with the Solomon Islands Electoral Commission and we are grateful that this partnership happens and to work together as a team to run a workshop here in Munda and we hope that election processes will be made more known and clear to people in the communities to be aware of the rules, laws surrounding the political processes in our country and to help the women and men to make their rightful choices to freely to elect those whom they want to elect in this coming election.”
The Women in Leadership Desk Officer also said, the National Council of Women hopes to raise people’s awareness about gender equality.
“We also want to again reengage people to recognise what gender equality is and also bring them to understand that this country Solomon Islands now needs transformational leadership in order to carry us forward into the next 10th Parliament.”
The workshop will be held next Thursday in Munda, and will have participants from Munda, Marovo, South New Georgia and North New Georgia.
