New Zealand ChildFund CEO Pays Courtesy Visit to Prime Minister Manele

The Chief Executive Officer of the New Zealand ChildFund, Josie Pagani today, paid a courtesy visit to the Prime Minister, Hon. Jeremiah Manele MP.

Discussions centered on strengthening collaborative efforts in advancing community-based initiatives. The dialogue explored how New Zealand ChildFund can further align its projects with the Government of the Solomon Islands’ National Development Strategy and policy priorities.

The talks underscored the importance of realigning partnership programs to ensure greater synergy moving forward. New Zealand ChildFund, together with its local partners, is actively engaged with vulnerable communities in remote provinces, the Honiara City Council, and Ministry of Police and National Security.

These areas are significantly impacted by violence and the adverse effects of climate change, particularly on children, youth, and families.

CEO Pagani said, the organization’s approach is holistic, focusing on helping children thrive, building meaningful relationships within communities, and collaborating with local organizations to overcome barriers and improve livelihoods. At its core, New Zealand ChildFund believes that transformative change begins with meeting the basic needs of children and youth, including access to education, health, and safe livelihoods.

Prime Minister Hon. Jeremiah Manele highlighted the government’s commitment to driving the country’s National Development Strategy, while also welcoming active participation from international partners. He expressed gratitude to New Zealand ChildFund for its continued support in addressing key development challenges in the Solomon Islands, particularly in rural water and sanitation improvement, renewable energy, infrastructure, youth development, and cultural and tourism advancement—areas that remain critical in rural Solomon Islands.

Prime Minister Manele further urged New Zealand ChildFund to collaborate closely with the Ministries of Home Affairs and Development Planning, ensuring that resources are optimally utilized and that visibility at the national level is raised, thus avoiding any duplication of efforts.
