The nomination period for next month’s National General Elections will officially close on October 22.
The Chief Electoral Officer, Polycarp Haununu clarified the date during a media conference yesterday.
He said intending candidates have until October 22 to deliver their nomination forms.
“From the opening of the nominations that starts today to 22nd October will be 14 days, so nominations are now open as of 8th-22nd October when nominations will be closed.”
Meanwhile, the Chief Electoral Officer says the Electoral Commission has $42 million to run the November 19 General Elections.
“In terms of our preparations for the election we have $42 million to run the election. Most of the funds are from the government with parts of it from the donors. With that figure I am confident we can be able to run the elections and complete its work until the polling day.”
