Numbu Community High School in North East Guadalcanal officially received its newly built two-story classroom building from the Japanese Embassy today.
The building was funded through Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots and Human Security Projects (GGP), costing more than 600,000 SBD.
Speaking at the handing over ceremony, Japanese Ambassador to Solomon Islands, His Excellency Yoshiaki Miwa said the building project aims to provide better learning environment for students.
” Japan contributed over 600,000 dollars to provide better learning environment for students in Numbu Community High School today and in the future.”
” Today, I also stand here to salute the dedicated individuals who paved the way from the start to the successful completion of the project,” he said.
Meanwhile, Project Coordinator of the classroom project, James Sikua also acknowledged Japan for their generous assistance.
” Today marks a significant milestone for our community as we officially open the new classroom that will enhance the learning environment for our students, thanks to the generous support of the Japanese government and the tireless effort of Numbu Community.”
” This classroom represents far more than just a structure, as it stands as a testimony to our shared dedication to creating a brighter future for the next generation,” said Mr. Sikua.
SIBC News understands, the Guadalcanal Provincial Government Education Authority has recommended Numbu CHS to establish Form 6, but was postponed due to the lack of classrooms and related facilities.
The construction of the schools new two-storey building aligns with the schools vision to establish a sixth form.
