President of the Peoples Alliance Party (PAP) Sir Nathaniel Waena says leaders should be selective with words they use to avoid misleading people.
Sir Nathaniel made the comment yesterday, in reaction to Alfred Sasko’s call for Parliament to immediately dissolve.
But the former Governor General says, such calls causes great confusion amongst people and implies that Parliament is not adhering to the Constitution.
He said the life of Parliament is regulated by the Constitution and provisions under the Constitution states Parliament dissolves on its fourth anniversary.
“And therefore, leaders must be selective in the usage of words and descriptions that they carry so that our people may not be misled unduly by sentiments being tendered or put across by leaders of this nation. We must be truthful in what we say.”
