An emotional reconciliation ceremony was held yesterday between two parties affected by the recent death of an elderly woman in North Malaita, Friday.
The 67-year-old woman died from a knife injury sustained when a brush knife slipped off from her grandson’s hand.
SIBC Stringer John Kiri reported the two parties, one representing the grandson and the other the deceased, exchanged traditional shell money in reconciliation.
“The party presented five strings of red shell money or tafuli’ae to the deceased’s party who was from Sisifiu, West Fataleka in which the party Leader and Chief, Robert Ifula received the shell money with a welcoming and forgiving heart displayed through tears, hugging and shaking hands with each other. At the same time, the deceased’s party presented a red shell money to the boy’s father in return.”
It was reported earlier, the grandson in his twenties was brushing around his residence when suddenly his brush knife slipped off his hands and injured the deceased.
