PM Manele calls for Unified Governance and Accelerated delivery of government’s transformational agenda across all Ministries

Prime Minister, Hon. Jeremiah Manele MP, convened a meeting with Permanent Secretaries and Policy Secretaries to reaffirm the Government’s expectations on policy coordination, administrative discipline, and service delivery across all ministries.

In his address, Prime Minister Manele underscored the centrality of the Cabinet system of governance, emphasizing that all policy matters are to be subjected to collective deliberation and decision-making at the Cabinet level. He reiterated that adherence to collective responsibility remains crucial to maintaining coherence, accountability, and strategic alignment in the execution of government priorities.

The Prime Minister further urged all permanent secretaries to ensure their ministries demonstrate proactive implementation of SIG and development partner-funded programmes and projects within their respective portfolios.

He stressed that such initiatives must be pursued with heightened visibility, efficiency, and accountability, ensuring that tangible benefits are realized for the people of Solomon Islands in a timely manner.

In anticipation of the Solomon Islands 50th Independence Anniversary in 2028, the Prime Minister called for strengthened collaboration with the National Anniversary Taskforce. He urged all ministries to work in close coordination to deliver priority projects at national, provincial, and constituency levels, thereby ensuring that the commemorative programme reflects unity, progress, and inclusive national development.

Prime Minister Manele also highlighted the critical importance of timely and comprehensive briefings within ministries, particularly in the briefings for Acting and Supervising ministers. He emphasized that continuity in leadership and the consistent provision of institutional support are essential to the effective implementation of the Government’s policy agenda and the delivery of the Government for National Unity and Transformation (GNUT) priorities.

He reaffirmed the obligation of Permanent Secretaries and all public officers to uphold the highest standards of neutrality and impartiality in the discharge of their duties.

Prime Minister Manele emphasised, the Government remains resolute in its commitment to principled leadership, effective governance, and the delivery of results for all citizens.
