New York, USA, Tuesday 23 September 2025 – Prime Minister Hon. Jeremiah Manele, in his role as Chair of the Pacific Islands Forum, today launched the Pacific Resilience Facility (PRF) Capitalisation Memorandum at the United Nations Headquarters in New York during the 80th UN General Assembly.
Prime Minister Manele told development partners that the PRF is the Pacific’s own financial facility designed to help countries like Solomon Islands and other small island states access much-needed climate finance. He said the PRF will strengthen the resilience of Pacific communities to the impacts of climate change, a threat he described as urgent and real for the Blue Pacific region.
The Prime Minister confirmed that 15 Forum countries, including Solomon Islands, have already signed the agreement to establish the PRF at the recent Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting in Honiara.
