Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare has officially launched the National Healing and Apology program in Honiara today.
Delivering a powerful speech today Prime Minister apologised publicly to the people of Solomon Islands, saying what happened on the 5th of June 2000 is a direct result of our people to the carelessness of the national government and the provincial government.
“What happened in the year 2000 is a direct response of our people to the carelessness of the National Government and the Provincial Government. This carelessness created a situation where innocent Solomon Islanders were forced to take up arms against each other and inflicted atrocities at the level unimaginable against our own people. Our people were placed in this situation, an environment created for them by the carelessness of the National and the Provincial Governments!”
