PM Sogavare says Solomon Islands supports AOSIS objective for Multidimensional Vulnerability Index

The Prime Minister further expressed support for the interim report adding, the high level report must not unnecessarily delay the process.

Solomon Islands also endorsed the call to establish Funding Arrangements to address Loss and Damage at COP27.

“We support AOSIS’s call for smooth opening and adoption of the agenda with sub-item ‘Funding Arrangement for Addressing Loss and Damage at COP 27.”

The Prime Minister adds, Solomon Islands supports the agreement to establish a new, fit-for-purpose multilateral fund for Loss and Damage, and commitment for further design and operationalization by 2023.

Prime Minister Sogavare told the Alliance of Small Island States, Solomon Islands has thrown its support behind the Vanuatu-led campaign endorsed by Forum Leaders to seek an advisory opinion on Climate Change from the International Court of Justice.

Prime Minister Sogavare also thanked the AOSIS Chair, Hon Gaston Brown for his leadership in guiding the successes achieved by AOSIS to date.
