Prime Minister Mathew Wale and PNG Prime Minister James Marape
Prime Minister Hon. Matthew Wale will tomorrow (Friday, 17 July 2026) welcome Papua New Guinea Prime Minister Hon. James Marape to Honiara underscoring the close and enduring ties between the two Melanesian nations.
Prime Minister Marape is scheduled to attend the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) “Solomon Islands for Christ” program in Honiara.
In recognition of the significance of the visit, the Solomon Islands Government has elevated the brief trip to an official visit.
A Guard of Honour will be accorded to Prime Minister Marape upon arrival at Honiara International Airport.
During the visit, both leaders will attend a church service on Saturday morning, where they are expected to address the congregation.
The two Prime Ministers will also hold bilateral talks on Saturday evening, focusing on strengthening cooperation and advancing shared priorities between Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea.
Prime Minister Marape will depart for Port Moresby on Sunday.
