Police and community to work together to reduce crime

Naha police have met with the elders of the Kobito 3 community in east Honiara recently to discuss the increasing concerns of antisocial behaviors impacting the peace and security in their communities.

Officer Commanding Station at the Naha police station, Superintendent Leslie Kili, said this joint effort seeks to improve community safety and revive a sense of pride within the neighborhood.

“The discussion emphasized the negative effects these behaviors have on local residents, families, and the overall well-being of the community,” Kili said.

In response, the Kobito 3 community expressed their intention to establish a crime prevention committee to implement proactive measures that enhance safety and well-being in the Kobito three community.

They also plan to draft bylaws to address specific issues related to antisocial behaviors, providing clear guidelines and expectations for all residents.

Superintendent Kili assured the three communities that the police will support the implementation of the crime prevention committee for the benefit of the community and the country.

Mr. Kili said all communities in and around Honiara should take similar steps to prevent the rise of anti-social behaviors, affecting young people.

The Kobito 3 initiative to engage with law enforcement represents a proactive move to tackle antisocial behaviors and promote unity. 

By partnering with the police they aim to create a safer environment that residents can truly be proud of.
