Police in Western Province have arrested a total of 45 suspects during the Christmas and New Year operation.
Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Western Province, Chief Superintendent Mathias Lenialu said, the arrests were made from 23 December 2023 to 5 January 2024 at different police stations in the province.
PPC Lenialu said the highest arrests were made by Shege Police Station with a total of 16 arrests, 12 by Kulitanai Police Station and 8 by Gizo Police Station.
Munda Police Station made 7 arrests while Noro and Parakasi made one arrest each.
“Most of the cases were petty crimes while one is an attempted murder case in which the suspect is still at large as investigation continues.
All suspects were dealt with and will appear before the court on a later date.
“I appeal to those suspects still at large to avail yourself to the police and communities must work together with the police to surrender a few suspects that are yet to be arrested,” Mr. Lenialu said.
