Police investigates death of a foreign national in Western Province

Munda police are investigating the death of a 62-year-old Taiwanese man who was found unconscious in a fishing carrier boat recently.

The incident happened on 21 December 2024 in the Solomon Sea, and the ship went offshore at Noro port where the matter was reported to authorities.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Superintendent Wilken Miriki said the deceased was found unconscious on the bathroom floor with blood on his nose by a crew member.

Superintendent Miriki said the crew members helped him to his bed and later died on the ship. 

The deceased was pronounced dead by medical authorities when arrived at Noro port.

An external medical examination on the deceased was conducted to form part of the police investigation to ascertain the cause of the death.
