The Head of the Roman Catholic Church, Pope Francis has sent a message of condolences to the Solomon Islands people for the devastation and loss of lives caused by the flash flooding earlier this month.
The floods had killed 23 people, including children and left thousands homeless.
In an email, Secretary of State at the Vatican in Rome, Cardinal Pietro Parolin said “the Holy Father was saddened to learn of the floods which have brought devastation to Honiara and parts of Solomon Islands, and wants to convey the assurance of his prayer to those suffering in the aftermath of this disaster”.
