PRC Supports Pacific Water and Wastewater Ministers Forum in Solomon Islands

Since its establishment in 2015, the PWWM Forum has served as a key platform for regional policy dialogue on water security, a cornerstone of public health, economic growth, and climate resilience. China’s financial contribution ensures that Ministers, utility professionals, policymakers, researchers, young water professionals, and development partners from across the region can come together to collaborate and innovate.

This year’s theme, “Water and Wastewater Service for All: Connecting People, Policies and Communities for a Shared Sustainable Future,” highlights the urgent need for regional cooperation to strengthen water and wastewater services.

Ministers responsible for water and wastewater will convene for one and a half days to deliberate on pressing water security challenges. The objectives of the 9th PWWM Forum are to:

1. Elevate the collective Pacific voice on water security as a central pillar of sustainable development, resilience, and regional security.
2. Advance sustainable financing and capacity-building opportunities to accelerate action on water security.

The Solomon Islands Government, in partnership with the Solomon Islands Water Authority, the PWWA Secretariat, and the Pacific Community (SPC), is working closely to ensure the success of this landmark event.

Last year, the Cook Islands successfully hosted the forum in Rarotonga.

This year, the Solomon Islands is honoured to host and looks forward to welcoming delegates, partners, and stakeholders to Honiara for what promises to be a milestone gathering in advancing water security for the Blue Pacific Continent.
