Guadalcanal Provincial Premier Anthony Veke has reiterated the importance of building a new tailing dam for Gold Ridge Mining.
Premier Veke made the call following the recent pillage issue of the Gold Ridge Tailing Dam.
Premier Veke says this is a demand by the Guadalcanal Provincial Government for any future investor of the mine.
“Any new or future operations coming up for the Gold Ridge mine should take into account the building of a new tailings dam rather than using the old tailings dam which is already risking the lives of people.”
SIBC News understands health authorities are still to lift their ‘warning’ on downstream communities not to use rivers affected by the dam spillage.
