Police Commissioner Frank Prendergast says he is confident that Police Officers who had served at the Solomon Islands-Papua New Guinea border will perform their duties as required during the election.
The police officers, along with a number of former field force officers, had been part of a 400 strong force who had served at the border during the Bougainville crisis.
Representatives of the former field force officers had this week claimed they are proposing a stand-off together with police officers who served during the crisis to protest the Government’s non-payment of their claims.
