Prime Minister Hon. Jeremiah Manele, MP, joined members of the Anglican Church of Melanesia and the people of Ysabel at a Special Thanksgiving Service at Saint Barnabas Cathedral in Honiara today, celebrating The Reverend Christopher Fihu as Bishop-elect of the Diocese of Ysabel.
On behalf of the Government, the Prime Minister extended warm congratulations and heartfelt blessings to Bishop-elect Fihu, his family, and the Diocese of Ysabel. The occasion was described as a time to give thanks to God for His enduring faithfulness and guidance.
Highlighting the Church’s continued contribution to Solomon Islands, the Prime Minister noted that it remains a moral pillar guiding communities, nurturing young people, and upholding the values that define the nation. He acknowledged the Church as a vital partner in fostering peace, harmony, and moral strength, and in advancing national development principles reflected in the GNUT Policy Statement. He reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to working closely with faith leaders to strengthen unity, hope, and national resilience.
