Minister for Finance Rick Hou says the government has acknowledged the private sector as an engine for sustainable and development growth in Solomon Islands.
Minister Hou made the statement during the Solomon Islands Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Business Excellence Award over the weekend.
The Finance Minister says the government acknowledged the private sector is the engine for growth where jobs for livelihood are generated.
He says the government understands the need to create a predictable and supportive environment for businesses in the country.
“Government acknowledges the private sector is the engine for growth. That is where jobs and livelihoods of most of our people are generated. We understand the need to create a predictable and supportive environment for businesses.”
Minister Hou adds, Parliament has passed a legislation to improve the system of business names registration saying it also opened up the banking sector to ensure the availability of credit to small and medium enterprises.
