Shops in the provincial capital of Taro, Choiseul province are facing rice shortage.
Operation Manager for Taro Police, Nevol Hughes says rice has been scarce since last week.
Mr Hughes says sales during the Christmas and New year festivities and the irregular shipping service to their area contribute significantly to the rice shortage.
