The Ministry of Home Affairs will soon gazette the River Bank Ordinance, passed by the Honiara City Council recently.
Honiara City Clerk Charles Kelly confirmed, the ordinance will be reviewed by the Attorney General before the Minister responsible will have it gazetted.
“What happens is that they have put it into an ordinance and they will send it through the Office of the Attorney General. Once the Attorney General is satisfied then he will put it through to the appropriate Minister which is the Minister of Home Affairs. Once the Minister signs it and became a gazette, then it will be legal. But right now it doesn’t mean it is legal tomorrow or the next day, until it went through that process and become legal by way of gazette, then it will become law.”
