The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Community Policing Department is providing security education program for sick patients at the National Referral Hospital.
This is part of a joint security operation between the RSIPF and staff of the hospital.
Director of Community Policing Department Solomon Sisimia says safety of hospital staff and sick patients is a matter of concern for the police.
“As the Police we see that the security at our National Referral Hospital is very important in three areas. The first is the working staff at the hospital including the nurses, doctors and everyone who is working at the hospital, secondly is the patients admitted at the hospital and the third group is the outpatient people who seek medical treatment at the hospital.”
Mr. Sisimia adds records has it that staff and sick patients at the hospital are vulnerable to theft and common assault.
“According to police records these three categories of people are vulnerable to various theft, even assault committed against these groups so we are very conscious of them.”
