S.I.E.C STARTS DEPLOYING TEAMS TO PROVINCES TODAY

Mr. Haununu says they are on track with the voter registration program adding, the last deployment of Voter Registration Officers will be on Wednesday.

SIBC News understands a total of 8-hundred and 34 registration officers were engaged to carry out the voter registration program in constituencies throughout the country.

Meanwhile, the Chief Electoral Officer says a total of 9-hundred and 53 Voter Registration Centres, VRC, have been identified throughout the country.

Mr. Haununu explains, each constituency will be visited by five registration teams to conduct registration activities, at one registration centre, for seven days.

He says the teams will then move to another registration centre in the same constituency after the seven days, to be able to cover other registration centres.

“During the registration period we have about five teams per constituency and these five teams will move from one VRC to another, so we will be able to reach these distant VRC’s within that 40 days period.”

Mr. Haununu adds all registration centres will open from 7am till 5pm in the afternoon each day for registrations, starting Monday next week.

He said they will be using the polling stations used in the past elections as Voter Registration Centres during the registrations next week.
