S.I.N.T.A SEEKS DIALOGUE WITH GOVERNMENT

The Solomon Islands National Teachers Association (SINTA) seeks to pursue dialogue with the Democratic Coalition for Change Government on matters directly relating to its members’ leave passage and housing allowance.

This is among resolutions passed during its annual general meeting last Thursday.

In a media statement following the annual event, the Union’s executive said the planned dialogue is to seek the government for a speedy and timely resolution for their passage and housing allowance issues.

It says these issues need to be factored into members salaries as soon as practical.

The SINTA Executive advised anticipated increases must be included in the 2015 National budget.

It adds, remaining tasks to complete the review must be fast tracked and go before the 10th Parliament.

SINTA warns, it will closely monitor DCC’s compliance with these resolutions and reserves the option to consider taking appropriate actions to resolve the outstanding issue without delay.

Meanwhile, the General Secretary of the Union, Mr Samson Faisi extends SINTA’s call to unregistered members and newly graduated teachers to become financial members of the Association.
