A number of events have been marked in the Solomon islands Visitor’s Bureau calendar for 2015.
The marketing manager of SIVB Freda Unusi says they are hoping these events will bring more tourist to visit Solomon Islands.
In May, there is the Wagasia festival – a spear fighting event in Makira Province and a Yacht festival in Gela, Central Islands Province.
In August, Makira Ulawa-Province will host the Banana Festival while a shell money festival will take place in Malaita Province.
In November, there is the Lagoon festival and Sun Mallet competition in Western Province.
The SIVB Marketing manager says they have involved travel writers to write and promote the events.
