The Solomon Islands Red Cross Society says they have purified over 367-thousand litres of water as of 4pm yesterday.
In its update yesterday, the organization said it has established three Nomad water purification units – two at Tuvaruhu and one are operating in East Guadalcanal.
It said as of 4pm yesterday, they had purified 367-thousand 115 litres of water.
This is being delivered to all evacuation centres in Honiara City and to two centres on the city boundary.
Meanwhile, the Solomon Islands Red Cross says water distribution will continue to all evacuation centres in Honiara as required.
A third Nomad water purifier operating in Nguvia, East Guadalcanal, was moved to a nearby water source yesterday.
Three 3-thousand litre water tanks from RWSS were also transported to east Guadalcanal.
The Red Cross society says this will substantially increase the organisation’s distribution capacity in the region and will be further boosted by the addition of one Nomad purifier previously operating in Tuvaruhu.
The Red Cross says on-going water needs will be adequately maintained within Honiara by the one Nomad machine.
