Cr Siapu delivering his speech 2
Re-elected Mayor of Honiara City, Eddie Siapu, has assured that his government will strengthen its relationship with Jiangmen City of the People’s Republic of China.
Siapu made this statement during his victory speech at the HCC Chambers on Wednesday.
Addressing the poor road conditions in Honiara City, he announced that his government will engage with China to secure a road engineer to assess all city roads.
Siapu clarified that while the council is not responsible for road construction and maintenance, which falls under the national government’s responsibility, his administration will seek to increase dialogue with the relevant national government ministries on ward and infrastructure development.
Mayor Siapu also called for the support of the three Members of Parliament in Honiara City, urging them to work together with the Honiara City Council.
“I appeal for alignment of ward development plans with constituency development plans, because at the end of the day, we are leading and serving the same people,” he said.
