Solomon Islands Football Federation President Mr Willie Lai says SIFF is appealing OFC’s decision to forfeit the national under seventeen team’s place at the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2019.
This comes after the team breached the OFC Disciplinary Code for fielding an over aged player during last year’s qualifies in Honiara.
Under articles 126 and 135 of the OFC disciplinary code the team is required to lodge an appeal fifteen days of communication of the decision.
Mr Lai says chances of overturning the decision is slim, but he will do all he can to convince OFC that the team deserves a place in this year’s under seventeen World Cup.
” The possibility of retaining that spot is really not up to us,” he said.
” We will do all we can to hopefully try to appeal to prove that we deserve to go.”
