Six provinces across the country are four days away from going to the polls to elect their new provincial ward members.
Coordinator of Provincial Elections at the Ministry of Provincial Government and Institutional Strengthening, Robert Kaua told SIBC News, according to their schedule, they are now on day 28, which is four days to the elections.
He said a total of 727 candidates will contest the upcoming Provincial Elections on 10th December.
“So a total of 727 candidates will be contesting the six provincial assembly seats and this represents 110 wards, because Central Province has 13 wards, Guadalcanal has 21 wards, Isabel has 16 wards, Malaita has 33 wards, Rennell and Bellona with 10 and Temotu has 17 wards, so these brings the total to 110 provincial wards.”
Meanwhile, Mr Kaua said for Guadalcanal Province, ward 14 has one candidate who stands unopposed.
“Ward 14 of Guadalcanal Province stands unopposed so in that case on the election date the Returning Officer will just announce the winning candidate for that ward, that the winning candidate for ward 14 is so and so. That’s a highlight for Guadalcanal Province.”
