Solomon Airlines has extended the dry lease contract for its Solomon Islands registered A-320 aircraft for another four-year term.
A government statement said the contract extension follows a visit by the Director of Civil Aviation Authority Solomon Islands (CAASI) George Satu and a Solomon Airlines team to the ST Aerospace Engineering Pte Ltd in Singapore early this month.
The statement said the visit was to conduct a physical inspection of the organisation’s facilities and procedures.
This is to determine its suitability to maintain the aircraft for a heavy maintenance check and install modifications on the aircraft.
Meanwhile, the statement said ST Aerospace Engineering Pte Ltd is a global integrated engineering group with capabilities including aerospace, electronics and marine and land sectors.
It also specializes in airframe heavy maintenance and modification for narrow and wide-body aircraft, including the A-320 aircraft.
Director, George Satu presented a Solomon Islands Part 145 certificate to the director of ST Aerospace, Mario Chin Hock after the exercise.
The certificate authorizes the organisation to carry out maintenance on the A-320 aircraft under the Civil Aviation Rules of Solomon Islands.
