Solomon Islands faces a possible El Nino season as it heads into cyclone season – November to January.
Deputy Director of the Solomon Islands Meteorological Services, Lloyd Tahani told SIBC News in an interview yesterday the country’s climate condition is heading towards an El Nino season.
“Our condition seems to be heading towards an El Nino situation and this doesn’t really mean that we will actually have El Nino then we would have low rainfall. While some indicators have shown that we are going towards that trend, some areas are already having El Nino impacts as we’re heading towards, so Honiara has some kind of strong relationship with El Nino and La Nina.”
