The European Union Ambassador to Solomon Islands, His Excellency Leonidas Tezapsidis has said it is obvious that Solomon Islands is not using its human resources optimally.
Delivering his remarks at the opening of the Women’s Leadership and Political Participation Conference in Honiara yesterday, Mr Tezasidis said the country is not maximising its human resources adding, the nation at large is losing heavily in the process.
“It is clear today that the country’s human resources are not used optimally. Women, 50 percent of the population do not play the political role that they should, the nation as a whole is losing heavily in the process. The Government is committed to the review of the Electoral Act and the Political Parties Integrity Act. The aim is to make the overall legislative framework more inclusive, fair and equitable.”
