Solomon Islands is undergoing a process of fundamental renewal says RAMSI Special Coordinator, Justine Braithewaite.
The Special Coordinator made the statement at celebrations to mark RAMSI’s twelfth anniversary at Visale, Northwest Guadalcanal last Friday.
Ms Braithewaite said a sense of nationhood, unity and national confidence was returning to the country – and this indicates the process of fundamental renewal.
“I believe Solomon Islands is undergoing a process of fundamental renewal as a sense of nationhood, unity and national confidence is returning. Things must change and no one could prevent it and we shouldn’t do that.”
The RAMSI Special Coordinator also highlighted the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force is ready to take over the work of securing law and order in the country when RAMSI leaves.
“RAMSI is starting to scale down and one day will leave Solomon Islands, but the RSIPF will remain and its policemen and women will uphold the law to ensure a better country. The rule of law and order is very important to the economic development of this beautiful country.”
SIBC News understands RAMSI’s budget cycle will end in the middle of 2017.
