TASK FORCE ON PIDF HELD FIRST MEETING

The PIDF Leaders’ Summit will also coincide with the National Independence Day celebrations on 7th July.

An MOU will be signed by the Government and PIDF at the Solomon Islands High Commission in Suva, Fiji, next week to formalize the commitment by the Solomon Islands on its role as the PIDF Chair within the next two years.

Secretary to Prime Minister, Mr. Joseph Waleanisia presented shell money gifts to Mr. Lomaloma on behalf of the Government and urge members of the National Taskforce to give their best effort in organising the event.

Prime Minister Hon Manasseh Sogavare accepted the invitation for Solomon Islands to Chair the 2016 PIDF Blue Economic Conference and PIDF Leaders’ Summit during his MSG Capitals’ visit to Fiji in March this year.

The PIDF was established in 2013 with the objective of driving transformative changes through national, regional and international frameworks by focusing on the sustainable and inclusive development of Pacific Islands.
