A high-level delegation comprising top government officials from Solomon Islands and New Zealand will travel to Lata, Temotu Province next week to officially reopen the Lata Fisheries Centre.
The Centre has been renovated due to its natural wear and tear.
A statement from the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources says the total cost of renovation is about $1.8 million.
It says the renovation was made following the Democratic Coalition for Change (DCC) Government’s development plan to develop the fisheries sector in Temotu province.
Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources John Maneniaru, New Zealand High Commissioner Her Excellency Ms Marion Crawshaw and the Permanent Secretary Dr. Christian Ramofafia were among those who will witness the opening ceremony next Tuesday.
The newly built Fisheries Centre was funded by the New Zealand Government through the ‘Mekem Strong Solomon Islands Fisheries program’.
