The survivor of a boat that went missing in Temotu Province early last month, has warned boat travellers to be extra careful when travelling at sea.
Twenty-year-old Ramo Selwyn of Temotu Province and two other men were victims of an Out-Board Motor powered boat which capsized between Santa Cruz and Nupani Island in Temotu province early last month.
Young Selwyn and another man survived the ordeal but, sadly the third person has not been found and now presumed dead.
Speaking to SIBC News recently Mr Selwyn urged boat travellers to be extra careful when travelling at sea.
“To advise people that whenever you’re lost at sea, leave your canoe and swim to land whenever you sight land in a close distance as life is more important than a boat and its engine.”
He added it is very important for boat travellers to be well prepared before travelling at sea.
“For those of us who often go out to sea, it is important to note the weather as well as take safety equipment such as life jackets or floaters, in case we meet rough seas then it would help in the event of a sinking boat.”
