Transparency Solomon Islands (TSI) commends the work of the Parliamentary Bills and Legislation Committee in the scrutiny of government Bills accepted for tabling in Parliament Sittings.
A statement today says the level of input from groups and institutions invited were of immense substance and valuable to the Bills Process.
Transparency Solomon Islands has also made its presentation in the hearing on the Anti-Corruption Bill and the Whistleblowers Bill.
TSI seeks amendments to section 10, sub-section 4 of the bill with regard to the membership of a nominating committee in its submission.
The section states, the commission shall be nominated by a nominating committee which will consist of the speaker of parliament, Leader of Opposition, deputy prime minister, the attorney general and the chairman of the public service commission.
TSI sees this combination of the nominating committee as heavily political and will subject the Commission to political influence.
