A man from Vella Lavella Western Province has appeared behind bars at the Magistrate’s Court this morning for a murder.
It was alleged the accused killed another man in Maravari Village, Vella La Vella over a land boundary dispute in November last year.
According to police reports, the accused became angry with the deceased when he climbed a breadfruit tree near the boundary of their respective areas and pruned the tree.
The accused retaliated and broke the tap of the water supply in the area and took it away.
Later, the deceased and another person went to the accused to question him about his anger.
When they got to him, the accused kicked the deceased on the right side of his stomach, and he fell unconscious.
The deceased died shortly after he was taken to a clinic.
The case will appear again before the Magistrate’s Court on March 10th.
